Overland Co-Hosts Serverless Backup Symposium

September 15, 2000

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 2000--

`Lunch and Learn' Seminar and Demonstration to Show Benefits

Associated with Innovative Storage Solution in SAN Environment

Overland Data Inc. (Nasdaq:OVRL), a technology leader in tape backup products, today announced that it is partnering with leading storage vendors Computer Associates International Inc. (NYSE:CA) and XIOtech to present Serverless Backup in a SAN Environment at a "Lunch and Learn" seminar and demonstration on Tuesday, September 19.

The event takes place at National University in Costa Mesa, Calif. from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Attendees will gain first-hand knowledge of how serverless backup benefits businesses by enabling backups from disk to tape without using CPU or LAN bandwidth, thereby improving efficiency of application servers and increasing productivity for application users.

By implementing this SAN storage solution, companies can expect benefits of reduced expenditures through hardware consolidation and centralized management, improved scalability and enhanced fault tolerance through remote mirrors and replication, and increased overall return on investment. Serverless backup works with multiple operating systems, such as Windows NT, Windows2000 and UNIX, and is not tied to a specific server platform, allowing for best-of-breed hardware choices.

"This seminar and demonstration will help to demystify serverless backup and help IT managers make informed choices as to the future of their company's storage architecture," said Steve Richardson, vice president of marketing at Overland. "By presenting a viable solution with CA and XIOtech, we can best show the benefits of cost, interoperability and reclaimed application performance that serverless backup in a SAN environment can bring to any business' infrastructure."

Attendance of this event is limited. Those interested in attending may reserve space by calling 800/374-0519.
