SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2000--Overland Data Inc. (Nasdaq:OVRL), a technology leader in data storage and backup products, today announced that its LibraryPro(TM), the first modularly scalable AIT(a) library, has been certified by San Diego-based BakBone Software (TSE:BKB)(OTCBB:BKBOF) as compatible with BakBone's NetVault(TM) storage management software.
The LibraryPro, which features unparalleled ease of use and scalability among its primary benefits, is a tangible demonstration of how Overland has taken one more step in its initiative to offer its customers the broadest operability choices with powerful next-generation storage management software. This announcement closely follows Overland's DLT LibraryXpress(TM) being certified as compatible with NetVault.
"In becoming certified with NetVault, we have continued to expand the third-party support for Overland technology on `best of breed' SAN software," said Steve Richardson, Vice President of Marketing at Overland. "Our libraries and NetVault software are a good fit since both allow users to easily scale up as their storage requirements expand, making this an affordable way to combat rapidly escalating storage management costs."
"NetVault, in a backup configuration with Overland's modularly scalable LibraryPro, provides an extremely reliable approach to high performance, modularity and scalability," said Tony Cerqueira, BakBone Software's Chief Executive Officer. "As part of a SAN environment, Overland offers users a clear choice for flexibility and ease of use; LibraryPro and NetVault users can be assured that their data is well protected."
The AIT LibraryPro can be scaled up to nine modules for a maximum configuration of 8.55 terabytes native capacity (up to 22.2 TB with compression) and throughput of 388 gigabytes per hour (up to 1.0 TB/hr. with compression) using Sony AIT-2 drives. LibraryPro allows customers to scale the capacity and performance in modular increments for a customized solution to precisely match their specific storage needs, and combines the company's ultra-reliable Mainframe Class Robotics technology with the inherent advantages of Sony's AIT technology. Along with the unmatched scalability of the LibraryPro, Overland adds simplified media management with a tape cartridge magazine designed to facilitate bulk cartridge installation and storage as well as a convenient mail slot for individual tape insertion into the library.
Overland DLTtape products are backed by the company's innovative Guaranteed Up Time Service (GUTS(TM)) warranty program guaranteeing 99% uptime performance and 100% data recovery, the only guarantee of its kind in the industry.
