Overland Storage First to Support HP LTO Generation 2 Tape Drive

November 20, 2002

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Overland Storage, Inc. (Nasdaq: OVRL), a leading provider of storage solutions, announced today its support for Hewlett-Packard's (NYSE: HPQ) LTO Generation 2 tape drive, the largest capacity and fastest performance tape drive currently available.

HP and Overland have collaborated to integrate LTO Generation 2 in Overland's Neo Series(TM) tape libraries. With 400 GB compressed capacity and speeds of up to 60 MB/sec compressed, LTO Generation 2 doubles the capacity and performance of the first generation tape products.

"Offering the Neo Series with the latest technology demonstrates Overland's ongoing commitment to optimize tape automation throughout IT data centers to best meet our customers needs," said Robert Scroop, vice president and general manager of Overland's storage resource business unit. "Our LTO partnership with HP enables us to deliver unmatched performance and capacity with a time to market advantage."

Overland's enterprise libraries provide nonstop operation and expansion on demand, allowing customers to build as they grow, while protecting their original capital investment. The high availability configuration of the Neo Series, including Live Swap(TM) technology and redundant components such as power supplies, tape drives and Fibre Channel-to-SCSI bridges, greatly reduces unscheduled downtime and increases IT productivity. The Neo Series also can be easily upgraded in the field to install new drive technology, further extending long-term value to the customer. Overland also offers the largest tape density, terabyte per square foot, saving premium floor space in data centers for other IT products.

The Neo Series with LTO Generation 2 is compatible with leading software on Windows, HP-UX, Solaris, NetWare, and Linux operating systems.
