Leading Apparel Company Deploys Overland's REO 9000 and NEO 2000 for Complete Data Protection While Slashing Administrative Overhead by 40 Percent

SAN DIEGO, Aug 28, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Overland Storage Inc. (Nasdaq: OVRL) today announced that Haggar Clothing Co. has implemented its REO(TM) 9000 disk-based backup appliance and NEO(TM) 2000 tape library for flexible, reliable and affordable disk-to-disk-to-tape (D2D2T) data protection.

Haggar, a leader in men's and women's apparel, experienced ever-expanding data volumes that overburdened an aging Exabyte tape library resulting in "hit or miss" backup and recovery efforts. The problems were further exacerbated by the increasing frequency of huge, computer-aided design and graphics- intensive files, which could create instant, ten-fold increases in daily backup requirements.

According to Brad Coleman, IT infrastructure director at Haggar, the need to offer greater levels of protection for the company's essential ERP and other mission-critical data led to a review of leading disk- and tape-based backup, recovery and archival solutions. In seeking a replacement to its legacy tape library, the IT team wanted to expand rapidly as needed, boost reliability, reduce backup windows and expedite restores substantially.

In working with Dallas Digital Services, an Overland Storage value-added reseller based in Colleyville, Tex., Haggar evaluated and deployed an Overland REO 9000 and NEO 2000 to take advantage of D2D2T backup and recovery. "Overland's REO-NEO combination is the best fit for our organization," says Coleman. "We now back up twice as much data using the REO and restore files five times faster on the NEO while easily accommodating any unpredictable surges in file sizes."

Haggar also takes advantage of REO's built-in virtual tape library (VTL) capability to store up to 30 days of backups on disk. The ease of using the REO's VTL functionality and overall streamlined management of the NEO tape library has enabled Haggar to lower its administrative overhead by 40 percent. "The ability to quickly, easily and repeatedly back up business-critical files is one of the most important tasks we undertake," adds Coleman. "With Overland's best-of-class disk- and tape-based solutions in place, we now have the confidence our data is protected and we can deliver what our users expect."

Overland's REO SERIES(R) appliances deliver improved backup speed and reliability, near-instant data recovery and reduced backup administration costs. Seamless integration with the scalable NEO SERIES(R) of tape libraries ensures complete D2D2T backup and recovery for meeting both current and evolving backup, recovery and archival needs.

"More mid-sized organizations are adopting Overland's smart disk backup appliances and scalable tape libraries to ensure unsurpassed levels of data protection across different storage tiers," says Michael Kerman, vice president and general manager, appliances business unit for Overland Storage. "Haggar's REO-NEO implementation is an excellent example of how our D2D2T solution cuts the costs and complexities of traditional backup and recovery without compromising performance and reliability."
