Container Application Virtualization Provides Unparalleled Scale and Simplicity for the Administration of Online Tests in K-12 Schools
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 11, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sphere 3D Corporation (Nasdaq:ANY), a virtualization and data management solutions provider, today announced that Glassware 2.0® now meets the requirements for Pearson's TestNav® Qualified program to allow safe and secure delivery of TestNav 7.5 assessments with Chromebooks. Pearson delivers millions of online tests to students annually as part of its work with statewide and national assessment programs. The qualification of Glassware 2.0 for TestNav 7.5 with Chromebooks enables new delivery models for secure, scalable and efficient delivery of TestNav.
"Educators are increasingly turning to technology to prepare K-12 students for the challenges of higher education, entering the workforce, and life," said Peter Tassiopoulos, president of Sphere 3D. "We are committed to playing our part by partnering with industry leaders, such as Pearson, to empower students with the tools they need, while maximizing IT efficiencies and minimizing costs for those entrusted to deliver these services."
The TestNav Qualified program provides Pearson customers with additional technology options for online assessment delivery. Sphere 3D collaborated with Pearson to test and confirm that Glassware 2.0 meets the rigorous standards of security and performance for TestNav 7.5 with Chromebooks. Glassware is now listed as a qualified product on the TestNav Qualified website.
Sphere 3D takes a unique approach to virtualization with Glassware 2.0, a proprietary container technology for delivering applications as stand-alone instances from a server. With this breakthrough approach, education organizations can deliver just the singular application they require to a variety of student or teacher devices. This reduces bandwidth requirements, streamlines and reduces licensing costs and allows for the most efficient approach to delivering virtual applications.
"As the assessment industry accelerates the transition from paper-based to online test delivery, identifying and supporting virtualization solutions that securely and effectively interface with online testing solutions becomes even more critical," said Bryan Bleil, vice president of online technology implementation at Pearson. "We welcome Glassware 2.0 into the TestNav Qualified program as a technology provider that shares our goal for enhanced learning capabilities through technology adoption."
