SAN DIEGO, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Overland Storage, Inc. (Nasdaq: OVRL), a leading provider of storage solutions, announced today that its Neo Series(TM) 4000 has been named Storage Magazine/SearchStorage.com's Product of the Year, awarded "Gold" in the Backup Hardware category. The Product of the Year Awards, selected by the editors of Storage Magazine and SearchStorage.com, honor the best storage products for enterprise IT professionals based on innovation, performance, ease of integration, ease of use and manageability, functionality, and value.

The Neo Series 4000 is the newest member of the Neo Series family of tape libraries, aimed at the enterprise tape backup application. It uses the highly acclaimed Neo Series architecture to deliver backup capacity ranging from four to 96 terabytes and data transfer rates of 43 to 3,456 gigabytes per hour compressed.

"We are proud that the industry's best storage-specific information resource has selected the Overland Neo Series 4000 as the product of the year in its class," said Robert Scroop, vice president and general manager of Overland's storage resource business unit. "Storage Magazine and SearchStorage.com have recognized the Neo Series for its unprecedented levels of availability, investment protection and flexibility."

Overland's enterprise libraries provide nonstop operation and expansion on demand, allowing customers to build as they grow, while protecting their original capital investment. The high availability configuration of the Neo Series, including Live Swap(TM) technology and redundant components such as power supplies, tape drives and Fibre Channel-to-SCSI bridges, greatly reduces unscheduled downtime and increases IT productivity. The Neo Series also can be easily upgraded in the field to install new drive technology, further extending long-term value to the customer. Overland also offers the largest tape density, terabyte per square foot, saving premium floor space in data centers for other IT products.
