SAN DIEGO, July 3, 2003 – Overland Storage (NASDAQ: OVRL), a leading provider of storage solutions, today announced support for Microsoft Corp.'s newly-released iSCSI software drivers including Microsoft Windows® Server 2003, Windows 2000 SP3, and Windows XP SP1 drivers. Microsoft's iSCSI Software Initiator enables Overland to offer Microsoft's enterprise-class and mid-tier customer base an affordable means of building high performance data protection networks using familiar and inexpensive Ethernet components.
"Microsoft's release of iSCSI software drivers for the most popular Windows systems makes it easier than ever for our customers to take advantage of accelerated Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape (D2D2T) backup using well-established TCP/IP storage networking functionality," said John Matze, iSCSI standard co-architect and Overland's CTO. "Windows-based servers are producing more and more business-critical data within our enterprise and mid-tier customer base. Microsoft's iSCSI software driver release immediately enables these servers to take advantage of high-speed D2D2T."
The Internet Engineering Task Force recently ratified the iSCSI standard for facilitating data transfers over intranets and to manage storage over long distances.
