Glassware 2.0(TM) & SnapCLOUD(TM) 'Next Cloud' Solutions Complement Microsoft Azure Cloud Ecosystem

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 3, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sphere 3D Corp. (NASDAQ:ANY), a next cloud containerization, virtualization and data management solutions provider, today announced the company has joined the Microsoft Enterprise Cloud Alliance Program to deliver virtual application, virtual desktop, and enterprise storage solutions that utilize the Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform.

The goal of Microsoft'sEnterprise Cloud Alliance is to create, nurture and grow a strong eco-system across a broad set of Enterprise Cloud Products delivering the best on premise, hosted and Public Cloud solutions in the industry. The Alliance was formed to promote and support partners providing integrations and extensions to existing Microsoft products. As part of Microsoft'sEnterprise Cloud Alliance, Sphere 3D will provide its flagship application containerization platform, Glassware 2.0TM, which enables Azure users to modernize and upgrade any application to any connected device, and its SnapCLOUDTM virtual Networked Attached Storage (NAS) solution, which facilitates easy deployment of enterprise storage in the cloud or in a hybrid cloud environment.

"With the rapid rise of mobile devices in the workplace, the value proposition of moving enterprise applications to the cloud for improved agility and scalability is clear," said Dan Camarda, vice president of business development at Sphere 3D. "And, as organizations increasingly shift workloads to the cloud, they need a quick, easy and cost-effective solution to transfer their applications to Microsoft Azure. By joining the Enterprise Cloud Alliance, we created a new ecosystem which we hope will effectively transform the economics of application virtualization and delivery to any device at any time."

"Transitioning legacy applications and storage infrastructures not designed for the cloud has become both complicated and expensive for the enterprise," stated Chris Lwanga, principle PM manager, Microsoft. "Sphere 3D's 'next cloud' solutions complement the capabilities of the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. Customers now have a compelling option for modernizing and mobilizing their existing infrastructure; and they can avoid rip-and-replace scenarios."

Sphere 3D's Glassware 2.0 and SnapCLOUD are each hybrid-cloud ready, able to deliver unmatched simplicity and scalability, and offer a drastic Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) reduction to companies seeking to modernize their IT infrastructure for the mobile workforce.
